Matt Maxwell

Matt is a multi-disciplined IT professional with a particular focus on highly redundant massive scale Telecommunications networks requiring minimal maintenance. During his career Matt has led organizational change across numerous IT services entities in multiple sectors, assisting both customers and peers to reach their potential.

In total, Matt has 22 years of IT Network & Systems operational experience, 9 years of which have been spent as the Chief Technology Officer of various Telecommunications entities, leading teams of technicians and engineers to build large Radio Frequency and Fibre Optic based carriage networks. As both a C-level leader and an on-the-tools IT professional, Matt has a unique perspective on operational realities of modern IT teams.

Matt prides himself on being impervious to marketing and just accepting the status quo, constantly questioning and re-validating his own understanding of technical concepts, as well as the true value of any given vendor solution. As a natural result of his experience Matt’s Solution Architecture approach results in technical solutions with elegant simplicity without compromising on the overall business goal of any given endeavour.

Key Projects Undertaken:

  • Lead architecture team on Converged Corporate/OT network strategy for multi-national natural resources group
  • Subject Matter Expert and Architect on team designing a high-capacity fault tolerant underground wireless communications network
  • Led a team of field technicians and network engineers in constructing multiple long-haul RF backhaul networks spanning the Eastern Australian coast
  • Participated in design and migration of an existing multi-tenant network strategy built on dedicated fibre cores to a modern solution utilising MPLS for a Queensland gas mining operation
  • Participated in design of a WDM based solution for expanding capacity on existing fibre optic cabling between Curtis Island and the mainland for a Queensland gas mining operation
  • Designed long-haul Radio Frequency based Telecommunications networks across multiple remote, rural geographical regions in multiple countries
